Close, but 0603 means 0.06" x 0.03" etc. If you look in IPC-SM-782 the 0603 for
example is identified as 1608 in metric for 1.6mm x 0.8mm. These are all
nominal dimensions.

Best regards,
Roy

Subject: [DC] Doubt

Hi All,

I have a doubt. It may be a very small one. I would like to know what the
sizes 0603, 0805 etc etc specify?
Does 0603 mean that the size of that discrete component is .6mm x .3mm ?
Likewise is 0805 0.8mm x 0.5mm ?
