David Farley, Total Quality Project Manager, Dan Hoffman, Director of
Operations for Surface Mount Division, and Charles Schilling, Manufacturing
Manager, have offered to host a tour and discussion of their assembly area.
Universal Instruments is the premier pick and place assembly equipment
supplier for the world. They design and assemble machines that populate
surface mount and through hole components onto printed wiring boards.
Because their equipment is used throughout the world their designs play a
big role in the design parameters we, as pwb designers, must follow for
component placement. The discussion will cover the following topics that
should help us understand the care taken to fabricate these machines.
Production Control Method
Build Process of Surface Mount Equipment
Training of Builders
Quality Assurance/Validation of completed machines.
Come and participate in the tour and discussion.
