Derek Here's a few guidelines

- Keep via pattern on your routing grid

- If device uses local fiducials (fine pitch devices) make sure they're in place
  prior to putting in pattern.

- Keep fan-out traces (stringers) .008 min.
  Fine pitch traces keep .003 smaller than pad size

- Keep fanout pads .040 min. from component largest feature (pad or comp. body)
  (if possible, for testability)

- Make sure you don't connect pad 2 to pin 3 (depends on type of software)

- Keep gnd inside of pattern and pwr on outside (depends on where caps are)

Hard to give example with limited keys;

   1 --- =    2
             /   <--- routing channel

   3 --- =    4
             /   <--- routing channel
         =--/
