Create a fab drawing for each drill stack. i.e.
1-2
2-15
15-16
1-16
That's what I do, no problem.
Karl

Man good luck to you on stacking them just right, one of the
difficulties for Protel is that the tool tables aren't translated until
post-processing so you have no real idea what size they're going to be.
We just make a printout that we include in with the RFQ package for
their engineers to read and also create gerbers for each drill layer for
each pair.

So far the most drills I've ever had is about 300 using only 4 or 5
different drills and of the total only about 50 were blind or buried.

Mine works the same way. I guess I'll just stack the tables in a neat
and
orderly fashion. There are approx. 1000 holes in the board and the
majority
of them are the same size, but they are 13 different drill tables
created.
One for each unique drill pair as well as for the thru holes.

Scott,

It would depend on the software you're using, our package creates a
drill
drawing for each drill pair that we define in the layer stack manager as
part of Protel 2004. That will create a tool table on each drawing for
that
pair.

Subject: [DC] Documentation for boards using blind/buried vias

Sorry to interrupt the political discussion, but I'm looking for a
little
guidance....

I'm doing a board that will be using some blind and buried vias and am
wondering how this is typically shown on drawings. Generally, I provide
one
drill file and a drawing that shows the drill locations along with a
drill
chart identifying the different hole sizes.

My software creates the hole locations and the tables for use in the
drawings. For blind and buried vias it outputs several drill files as
expected, and creates several different hole tables that list the holes
between different layers. For example; there is a thru hole table, one
for
layer 2 to layer 5, one for layer 2 to layer7.......).

I guess this makes sense, but this is going to make for a lot of tables
on
one drawing. I just wanted to check with the experts and see if this is
the
"typical" method used or if there is another approach ?
