Andy..
In 20 words or less (or more).... The net list check reflects the
electrical design, while the gerber data reflect the phototooling. The
phototooling may reflect errors that were generated by over-riding the
DRC (design rule checking) of the routing software or other TRICKS
erroneously incorporated into the phototooling by the designer...the
pwb would equal the gerber data, but would equal BAD PRODUCT!! That being
said, if your not transmitting RS274x gerber data and a wrong aperature
or wheel is used to generate the manuf. phototooling, assuming that you
didn't supply reference phototooling, erroneous pads/traces could be
generated and again BAD PRODUCT!! IMO, the safest way to guarantee GOOD
PRODUCT is to supply RS274X data, netlist data and a set of reference
phototooling. This might be a bit of an overkill, but I would rather have
pwb's being stuffed in the assembly area then me being in incoming inspection trying to figure out how to make make BAD PRODUCT work. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Bob Vanech
