Subject: Re: [DC] Schematic standards

Bob,
I have seen many different ways to draw a schematic.
For example I have seen inputs on the top and left, and outputs
on the bottom and right. I have also seen schematic symbols
drawn so that they look like the Physical geometry. Personally
I think that makes everybodys job easier, because the schematic
looks like the layout and is easier to follow.
Some things I like to do when drawing a schematic, is to number
the references by page. For example Ref's in the 100 range
(U100-U199, R100-R199) belong on page 1, 200 on page two etc.
This makes it a lot easier to find a symbol or reference on the
pages.

It is nice if you can use a B-Sheet size (11X17) to create your
schematics on, but C-Sheet size is doable on a laser printer.

There are also rules about no staircasing of the leads.

Don't do this:

------|
------|---|
------|---|----|
      | | |

Do this:
----------------|
------------| |
--------| | |
        | | |

The most important thing is to make everything as readable as
possible.

Karl
