Speaking of fire (as in baptisms by such)... it would certainly would
have been a befitting end to tape layouts. Large engulfing flames that
would leave no trace of their existence in order to prevent our younger
designers from being smitten by the sight of one. :-)

Ahh yes, I too relish my raw fab days when I received one of your tape
layouts. The countless trips into the darkroom to get a good shot on the
reduction camera from the football field size 2X or 4X layout. The
changing of the camera red/blue filters for the solder side shot. The IC
patterns that looked like the composite smile of the Houston Aeros
hockey team when the pads stuck to the back of the mylar when the flag
was unfurled. The apprentice designer who cut the wrong trace and tried
to hide his deeds by smashing the ends of the tape together with the
butt of the exacto handle. I also miss the roller coaster look of long
circuit runs where the designer was trying desperately to maintain
course and suddenly discovered he had lost his heading. Let's not forget
the countless hours of touch up on the halide film leaning over a light
table. Yes my friends, those were the days... I thank you for all the
overtime pay you provided way back when. :-)

The nightmares still haunt me!
