What is the first step to get certified?

The certification program consists of four core exams. These exams
represent four levels of experience within the industry. Only one exam is
basically complete so far: Level A. This exam is set up for a beginner
designer, and covers such topics as basic design layout, electrical
considerations, schematics, panelization, basic component
identification, etc. The other exams are still in preparation, and will
be introduced over the next several months.

A designer must take and pass each exam in succession. This is set up to
ensure that the full range of design knowledge necessary today is
included in the exams, without requiring the examinee to sit through
several hours of testing at one time.

The Level A exam will be available August 16. Registrations will begin
August 15.
