Hi Mark,
Good replys so far, and per Rich's suggestion about parts over .200"
tall, our requirement is .200" from the edge of the component to the
test pad. We also have a different value if the testpads are at the end
of component pads (SMD, which we use .018" pad edge to pad edge); or if
the testpad is along the side of the surface mount component. This will
vary between test houses, but we use a value of 1/2 the surface mount
device pad + .018" = pad edge/pad edge distance. We also tend to keep
testpoints a min of .100" from any thru hole devices less than .200"
tall.
