Hi all,

Firstly thanks to everyone who responded to my copper weight query. My next
question is for all you PADS
and VeriBest users out there. I am a PCB designer in the lighting industry
and currently run VeriBest 98. I am
currently evaluating PADS as an alternative (it's a long story!)

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has any experience with PADS -
especially anyone who has experience
with both packages.

For example, one of the areas I find PADS lacking in, so far, is in the
footprint creation. It appears to be completely grid based
with no facility to snap to any graphical elements. It may be that I expect
too much from these editors. At least
in VeriBest 98 I have microstation (arrggh! give me AutoCad anyday!) tools
at my disposal.
I felt that I was the only one complaining when a lot of this functionality
was dropped out of the VB99 release.

I want to be able to create footprints without entering coordinates or
counting grid dots! Do I expect too much
or am I missing a trick?

Any comments on the above, along with any views on PADS or VeriBest would be
most appreciated.

Regards,

Mark
