Are there any LPI soldermask experts out there?

Our manufacturing group has a preference to "MATTE" finish
solder masks over "GLOSSY" types.

My questions are:

        1   How to properly specify the "MATTE" finish -
            it would seem inappropriate (and confining) to
            call out a specific manufacturer's product.  Is
            there any general classification which describe
            this type of product in IPC-SM-840?

        2   What feedback could be offered (pros/cons) to
            the use of one type over the other.
