I would like to know if any of you have incorporated the following into your process:
We are using DX Designer (schematic front end tool) along with Allegro (PCB Design tool) at our company.
1. Tie attributes into the schematics to support mapping to the various engineering tool models
- These include IBIS models for SpecctraQuest
- Ansoft models
- Thermal models
2. Support module design components (Two ideas)
a) Idea one
Support reusable schematic sections that are brought into new designs by means of a schematic symbol that links to a known good set of schematics.
Use case would be common circuitry on modules within a product line (i.e. reset circuitry, firmware load circuitry, IPMI, etc..) or even BGA's and all of it's decoupling caps, connected as 1 module.
b) Idea two
Support a reusable schematic/layout combination. Same as above, but includes a layout as well.
Use case would be cut and paste power supply designs.
I would be interested to see if this is being done and how some of you have implemented it to date.
Thanks,
