You know it's interesting the makeup of PCB designers...
Pete and I were talking about this once, when I was in Minneapolis receiving an award from the IPC for contributions to the Design community... It seems that most Designer/Engineer types have a gift for creativity... some of us don't realize it, but it makes sense... So many of us have a music background someplace in our history and some form of art... painting, writing, sculpting... etc.
Well I didn't really realize it, but I have found a new activity that I really like. Another EE I know who was at Datron with me, introduced me to clay figurative sculpting... He was taking classes in sculpting and invited me to Carlsbad to Lynn Forbes Sculpting School to see this portrait bust he was doing of his wife. It was so amazing to me that he was doing this... I never connected having electronics skill to sculpting before... never really tried it beyond messing with 'play-doh' when I was a kid. I thought it was so cool I had to try it... so I started taking classes in April of last year and I have made about 14 sculptures since then... wish I had discovered it sooner! :)
I wonder if other designers have found that they have any latent artistic talents... ? I know Pete does... :)
p.s. I have posted most of my art project from class on a facebook page I made... don't know if you have access to fb, but if you are curious check it out.... :) I'll be looking for your article in the next mag. :)
