Mike,

I use a Xerox 8830 which I believe is similar to the 8825. I've found
that the Xerox printer driver creates a somewhat proprietary/HPGL2
hybrid type of file. I changed from the Xerox driver to a standard
HPGL2 printer driver. The plotter works fine with this driver and the
HPGL files were more compatible with viewing software.

Subject: [DC] Plotting Question

I have recently configured a Xerox 8825 plotter for use with Mentor
Graphics.
I am using Helvetica-Scaled font within Mentor Graphics. The display of
the
text and graphics is great. Plotting from within Mentor Graphics is
acceptable.
However, the plot seems to use a different font, or aspect ratio when I
try
to view
an exported hpgl or postscript plot with an external viewer, such as
Myriad,
AutoVue, or CAM350. The characters become almost unreadable. They are
overlapping each other also. When the rotate option is used when
exporting
a plotfile, it is a totally different plot.

I would like to eliminate paper archives, and only use electronic
plotfile
archives, viewable with any external viewer.

Is anyone else using these 2 together? Is anyone using the Xerox 8825
successfully? Is anyone plotting from Mentor Graphics successfully?
Is the Helvetical-Scaled giving me my problem?

Maybe someone from Mentor Graphics or Xerox would like to comment?
