Attached is the January announcement for the San Diego Chapter of the
IPC Designer Council.  January's highlights include:

   o   Intro to the Designer Council by Gary Ferrari, Executive Director 
       of the IPC Designer Council.

   o   Chapter officer nominations & elections.

   o   Also, ther are several workshops the IPC will present in in
       Southern California, in January, including:
          o   Basic PCB Design Workshop, presented by Michelle Worthington
              President of the Reno Chapter of the IPC Designer Council.
                 *   This is ideal for Technicians, or CAD people looking
                     to move into PWB Design.
                 *   A good coarse for new or entry level PWB Designers.
                 *   An orientation for Engineers (Hardware, or Manufacturing)
                     who would like to understand more about PWB design.
          o   IPC-SM-782 Land Pattern Design Workshop, presented by Gary 
              Ferrari.
                 *   This is a review of the IPC-SM-782 Land Pattern
               
                     Specification, which is what most of the land patterns
                     on our boards at Qualcomm are based on.
                 *   Ideal workshop for CAD Library people, &
                     Manufacturing Engineers.
          o   Designer Certification Preparation Workshop, presented by Gary
              Ferrari.
                 *   Excellent refresher of the IPC-D-275, Design Standard 
                     for Rigid Printed Boards & Rigid Printed Board
                     Assemblies.
                 *   The IPC has created and examination and certification
                     process for PWB Designers.  This coarse is aimed at 
                     PWB Designers who would like to seek certification.

          ***  All IPC Workshops are independent of CAD tool & PWB vendors.
               These workshops are presented by the IPC, which is an 
               international standards organization, and will reference
               IPC standards.  IPC materials shall be provided at the
         
               presentation.

          ***  All IPC Workshops will be open to the public, so submit
               your reservations early !
