  Hope,
               With the RS-274X output or any other Gerber type output with
  imbedded apertures or a viewer, photoplots are not required from
  the fabricator.  That being said, I have always liked a set of photoplots
  for quick reference to review, just to see if everything "makes sense".
  They can also come in handy if their are problems/questions during
  the fab/build/test cycle.  This is especially true if you have out-sourced
  the design and can't access the database.  Even if you have the
  database and have a viewer, getting to it may be more trouble then
  quickly reviewing film.  Also plots come in handy when generating
  engineering changes/update.  Just my opinion and what I like.
