Having come from along family line of union stewards I can proudly say
that they certainly helped shape America. But as with any unyielding
Bureaucracy, it eventually becomes self defeating.

pcb's instead)

Several years ago while working at a flex shop I received a design from
a guy at a very large company. While running the DRC's I noticed a tiny
image in a corner of the part. Closer inspection revealed it was the
green, round guy on the cover of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
flipping the bird.

He claimed it was a test coupon for checking line resolution.....worked
for me. Maybe a little image rather than text would still get the point
across without violating some gov't rule. If you can put a logo on a
board, why not a small land shaped like the USA ?

After spend a couple years in the UAW I think I'd take a pass on the
union.

Not many managers are going to like this but...

If there was a Union for designers, I would join because:
a. they would work to protect my job here in the usa (call me
xenophobic if you want) b. ... your ideas on how a union would help
Designers Council members (not the Designers Counsel itself) go here ...

This Union would have a logo/graphic "bug" much like the printers union,
that indicated the design was done by a union member, which could be
inconspicuously placed on any board.
