I agree, ask why, because I would like to know.
FYI, I have been routing traces out of the corner of SMT lands since 1984
when Rockwell (Wescom Telecom Div) began SMT designs with no problems at
all.

Did you ask them WHY? It's fine for a vendor to take a position such as this
- but they really need to justify it when they do. We do it all the time
without any problem.

We had a board reviewed by an assembly company that
said traces should not come out the corner of chip
resistors and capacitors (45 degrees). I thought that
this was I good way to keep trace lengths shorter.
What problems does this cause coming out of the
corner? Is a side or end the preferred way?
