I'll take trace widths less that 5mm

If you read further in his patent he covers anything from "0.4mm or more".
The only thing not covered is less than .4mm which they indicate is the
point where the delamination happens. So in essence he says if your annular
ring is greater than 0.4mm you will not have 'exfoliation' occur. (is that
like deforesting?) You gotta love the terminology...

If that's all it takes for a patent then there are many solutions to PCB
design problems that are most likely patentable...

I want a patent on the 'wheel'... I think I could get rich off that one...
think of the royalties... ;)

Sheeze...

This hole thing sounds very ridiculous. How can someone get a patent on the
amount of annular ring? Can we get an opinion on this from IPC? I know that
some of the folks up there monitor this LS and would like to get a reading
from the experts cause if it's true i'm gonna apply for patents on annular
ring in .1 mm increments.

Hope it's ok, I'm going to use .41-.425mm for my thru-holes now. "Patents?
We don't need no stinkin' patents..." :)

Good day.
