 Dan,

I use PCAD 8.5 (dos) and have been using metric parts in
english databases for years. You will have to use "snap to pin"
when routing since the pins will be at sub-micron locations. I
use english padstacks so the apertures are all english.
The only problem I have seen is when you have just enough room
between pads for a trace, it won't fit (DRC error) because the
pads are slightly of you routing grid (even if you go to 1:1)
and it throws the spacing to one side.
All in all, the use of metric parts has caused me little or no
 pain.
   I hope this helps!

 Best Regards,

Subject: Mixed Metric and Inch Components

We have a design using component footprints constructed of both inch and
metric dimensions and would like to know what problems this could cause
during routing.

And is this mixture a "normal" occurrence with many designs today?

Thanks.
