I use the version that's one step up from the free Pentalogix ViewMate
tool. It cost $50. It does everything ViewMate does, and you can edit
and save. The bad thing is that it's locked to one computer and can
never be transferred. I still think it's good deal. I have never tried
the more advanced packages. Like Jack, I use it just to look at them
before sending them to fab.

I use the free ViewMate tool, because I don't
edit gerbers, I just look at 'em.
Curious about capabilities vs limitations vs price
at the next level, though. Even a brief synopsis of
what the journey was like would be interesting.
