Very long flex circuits can be built by traditional flex processing by
laying out the circuit so each segment can be bent 180 degrees to change
the length. Additionally, shorter flex can be spliced together to make a
longer flex. If you want to make a very long flex without bends,
connector, splices, etc., then you should look at one of the roll-to-roll
flex manufacturers.

Hi Bill,

Based on your need, there are techniques that TTM Stafford Springs uses
that
can make the multilayer flex as long as you need it to be.
They have built multilayer flex's over 40 feet long that we were part of
the
PCB design team on used on commercial jet aircraft engines.

Best regards,
Ed

Subject: [DC] What is the longest flex that can be made?

I see that many manufacturers don't make 50 inch long flex boards...
What is the longest multilayer polyimide flex that CAN be made readily?
