I have to agree with Jack.
Seems like, many years ago, engineering folks used "parts list" and 
buyer/planner folks used "BoM".
Now I find "BoM" in general use, probably driven by MRP software that 
uses that term.
I have not seen it used for only a top level list (but I guess there is 
a lot I haven't seen).
