I'm not sure that I can be of much help, but I was under the impression that 
this depended on your location in the country. For example, someone in Los 
Angeles might make 2x dollars versus someone in San Antonio, TX who would 
make 1x dollars. 

I believe it also has something to do with the 'cost of living' for a 
particular area. 

Again, I may be mistaken, but that's how I came to understand it.
