I like Cherie's response. This pretty much sums up how it should be.

The attitude of 'Once I'm done, it's someone else's problem', is what
some have. I feel that this is not good.

I try to have an 'open door to changes to improve the product' policy.
That is, I want other aspects of manufacturing to come and tell me if
there is an improvement to the board that would help them make it
better, easier, cheaper, etc. That input would go into the next revision
of the board.

I worked at a company one time where the assembly of the boards was
done in the back area. I told the manager of assembly if he saw anything
that needed to be changed to make the assembly easier, let me know. His
response was 'we'll get it to work'. That was not what I wanted to hear.

Unfortunately, that attitude is still quite prevalent. I suppose it is
due to time restraints and the need to get product out the door.

Do I go chasing down the various departments and asking if they have
any problems? No. I feel that they are grown up enough to let me know.

At the current company where I work, we follow ISO9000. Procedures.
There is a procedure to give feedback. If they do not use it, they are
not following the company policies.
