===============
Why is this important?
===============
This seminar is a general overview of Key PCB Fabrication Issues and Concerns.
It is a great review for the experienced Designer, or an excellent introduction of the PCB fabrication process for the non-Designer.
Bring your Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test supporters so they may gain a better insight to the information necessary to output the best Design possible.

===============
Topics Include
===============
- File types and proper output examples

- Drill files: what they should include

- Typical print notes and WHY it is important they are accurate

- Importance of running spacing analysis when specific copper being called out

- Missing thermals ties vs. direct connects

- Fiducials: notes for placement, size, and clearance size

- Panelization aspects: concerns and requirements for PCB Assembly

- Soldermask defined surface mount pads vs. tied surface mount pads

- Special Dielectrics: what is required in the notes?

- Impedance Requirements: What is required in the notes?

- Silkscreen issues: placing text inside the surface mount areas, clipping, the reason we clip, and what results...

- "Blind" and "buried" vias through cores vs. controlled depth drilling

- Self intersecting polygons: problems and reasons why

- Soldermask clearance limitations, LPI vs. wet types

- Etch compensations: why we do it and what it means to you

- Overall thickness measurements: method is critical if fit is critical

- Surface finish issues: deep gold vs. immersion gold, when to use when not to use

- Cam systems: what we use, why we consider it a great tool for concurrent engineering or DFM.

About the Instructor
===============
Mark Thompson has been in the PCB industry for 16 years. He has been with Prototron Circuits for 6 years. Prior to Prototron, Mark worked for Praegitzer (formerly Circuit Technologies in Kirkland).
Mark's job description includes extensive work in the following areas: Pre-Engineering Technical Support establishing and calculating dielectrics and complex stacking details. He generates special work instructions specific to process changes in the PCB fabrication process. He also contacts customers regarding issues and generates "Customer Correspondence" forms and advises Customers regarding technical issues on their PCB's.

===============
Who should attend?
===============
PCB Designers be sure to bring your Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test supporters so they may gain a better insight into the information necessary to output the best Design you can - the first time!
