Hi all,

In Canada the circumference is pi x diameter; perhaps it is like the
Imperial gallon vs the US gallon :)

Sorry...

In Fun,
Brent

A little closer to use the circumference (pi X radius) of the drilled hole
(NOT the finished hole) for the trace width, the via plating thickness
(typically 1.0 to 1.5 mil) for the trace thickness, and use a trace width
calculator set for inner layers to calculate the current (I have one on my
web site www.pcb-designer.com, Doug Brooks has a stand alone one at
www.ultracad.com)

Hi Karthik;
I determine the "equivalent" trace width by 3.14XR^2. Then use the charts in
ipc-2221. The nominal plating in the hole should be halfway between 1 oz and
1/2 oz. use the chart for inner layers. Not very scientific, but I haven't
had any of them smoke yet.

Regards;
Tom Garman
